Job Description

Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington, MO is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Medical Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services that support physicians and nurses in providing compassionate, evidence-based care to our patients. Working in a collaborative hospital environment that includes the Emergency Room, Radiology, and Rehabilitation Services, you will perform a wide range of complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, and tissue samples to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of disease. In this role, you will be responsible for performing routine and specialized testing in areas such as hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, immunology, and blood banking, following established protocols and regulatory standards. You will operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory analyzers and instruments, ensuring accurate results and minimal downtime. You will verify and validate test results, recognize and troubleshoot errors or atypical findings, and communicate critical values promptly and clearly to providers. Accuracy, adherence to quality control procedures, and strong analytical judgment are essential to success in this position. The Medical Technologist will participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities, including proficiency testing, documentation of quality control, and compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements. You will follow strict infection control and safety standards, including proper specimen collection, handling, labeling, and storage. You will assist with training and orienting new team members, students, or cross-training staff as needed, sharing your knowledge to support professional growth across the department. You will also help optimize workflows, contribute ideas to improve efficiency, and support the integration of new methods or technologies into the lab.
