Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education to support students across multiple grade levels in Juneau, Alaska. This full-time, contract position spans the 2026-2027 academic year, with workdays generally scheduled between 8 AM and 4 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week. The role requires onsite presence with no virtual work options; travel candidates are encouraged and travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instructional support to a caseload of approximately 10 students ranging from 1st through 12th grade.
  • Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to student needs.
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods to promote academic and social development.
  • Utilize expertise in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education to facilitate student communication and learning.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant educational standards and certification requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Current Alaska state licensure for teaching, including Type C certification specific to Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
  • Will consider candidates with pending licensure; proof of licensure and certifications must be provided.
  • Experience working with diverse grade levels within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing student population.
  • Ability to work onsite in Juneau and willingness to travel as needed for the position.
