About the OpportunityKARE CENTER in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a motivated and compassionate Psychiatric Physician Assistant (Psych PA) to join our expanding behavioral health team. In this role, you will conduct psychiatric evaluations, provide medication management, and deliver evidence-based mental health care under the collaborative supervision of our attending psychiatrists. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, and social workers to deliver comprehensive, integrated, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations including diagnostic interviews, mental status examinations, and risk assessments.
- Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and substance use disorders.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, adjusting treatment plans based on patient response and clinical outcomes.
- Provide brief supportive therapy and psychoeducation to patients and families.
- Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and primary care providers to deliver coordinated, holistic care.
- Conduct follow-up appointments to monitor medication efficacy, side effects, and overall patient well-being.
- Manage psychiatric crises including risk assessment, safety planning, and coordination of higher levels of care when needed.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA accredited program.
- Current NCCPA certification (PA-C) and active Michigan PA license (or eligibility to obtain).
- 1-3 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, behavioral health, or mental health preferred.
- DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain) for prescribing controlled substances.
- Training or experience in psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric care.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a patient-centered, compassionate approach.

This is a hybrid role with telehealth as a primary pilot program. It is a heavy telemedicine platform with office hours as well.
