Position Title: Structural Designer

Pay Type: Salary

FLSA Designation: Exempt

Reports to: Creative Director

Location: Rochester, NY and Milwaukee, WI

Summary/Objective:

Develop innovative, cost-effective, visually appealing, and structurally sound point of purchase temporary displays. The position requires the ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Functions:

• Creates designs, drawings and prototype samples utilizing ArtiosCad software and Kongsberg cutting table.
• Acts as a supportive interface between sales, customer service and production.
• Designs according and machinery limitations of internal plants, external outsource vendors, and suppliers.
• Participates in project management and process improvement meetings as necessary.
• Works with project managers and pre-press team to ensure a smoother workflow in designs.
• Possesses or develops competency in company's management system software.
• Possesses or develops general graphics knowledge as relating to structural packaging design.
• Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of design areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned by department manager.

Competencies:

• Proficient in the following programs, applications/software:
  • Microsoft Applications: Word, Excel
  • ArtiosCad
  • Adobe Creative Cloud Applications a plus

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to talk or hear.
• Regularly required to sit, regular use of hands.
• Frequently required to stand and walk.
• Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and use foot/feet to operate machine.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• The employee must be able to work under pressure with ever changing deadlines and priorities.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Adheres to company policies and safety requirements.
• Neat in appearance, articulate and able to assist sales with calls on prospects and customers.
• Self-motivated
• Strong verbal skills, both verbal and written.
• Adaptable to a fast-paced environment and flexible.
• Detail oriented
• Possesses a positive attitude.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with a concentration in Industrial Design, Packaging, or Engineering preferred.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
• Corrugated design and packaging industry experience preferred.
