Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a Grants Manager to support the charitable needs of our community and advance the Community Foundation’s mission to Grow Community Giving. The role is full‑time, newly created, and reports directly to the Foundation President while working closely with the Director of Grants and Nonprofit Programs and other team members. The Office is located in Leesburg, Virginia, with one remote day per week. Principal Duties and Responsibilities The Grants Manager is responsible for the administration of grantmaking operations, monitoring, due diligence, and software management. Ensure complete and accurate grantmaking records, including applications, agreements, reports, budgets, and grantee communication. Develop and draft grant application forms, requests for proposals, and reporting forms within the Foundation’s online grant management system, under direction from the President and Director of Grants and Nonprofit Programs. Monitor, analyze, and ensure timely and accurate submission of grantee reports, including programmatic and financial reports. Review and complete due diligence on submitted grant applications for competitive cycles, including programmatic and financial reviews. Create reports with grant application and report data for review committees, donors, funders, and team members. Provide support on grantmaking cycles to the Director of Grants, President, Finance and Operations Manager, and giving circle contractors as needed. Assist with potential grantee research and due diligence when necessary. Maintain proficiency with grant management and fund management software systems. Provide technical assistance to grant applicants and grantees, including troubleshooting the online grant management system. Assist team members with execution of agency-wide events and projects, such as training programs, conferences, and fundraising events. Maintain organizational records and compliance requirements. Partner with the President and team to monitor and evaluate organizational development for continuous improvement. Support the President in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating institutional policies, strategic plans, and systems. Apply all policies to ensure the Foundation adheres to U.S. National Standards for Community Foundations. Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required At least three years of experience in the nonprofit or philanthropic sector, with a strong understanding of place‑based grantmaking. Experience with grant‑making systems and processes, including seeking, reviewing, monitoring, and writing grants. Strong ability to work with a diverse range of partners, including community leaders, government agencies, nonprofits, and donors. Strong organizational, written, and communication skills; meticulous attention to detail. Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, including Excel. Experience with grant management software; familiarity with Foundant products such as CommunitySuite and Grant Lifecycle Manager is a plus. Experience working with volunteers and collaborating with boards, committees, and teams. Strong leadership skills, initiative, and commitment to the Foundation’s mission. Ability to take direction, learn new systems, solve problems, and work effectively in a small team environment. Benefits and Salary Salary range: $60,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience.
