About Us:

As a Full-Stack Engineering Intern at the New York Times, you will have the opportunity to work on the most impactful surfaces of our products, from custom editing interfaces for our journalists to web and email products for millions of users around the world. You can also contribute to the development of new products beyond our core journalism, such as the NYT Games and NYT Cooking.

About Our Summer Internships:
  • The duration is 10 weeks long, starting on June 1, 2026.
  • The rate of pay for this role is $40.00 per hour.
  • Interns work 35 hours per week.
  • This is a hybrid role based in New York.
Responsibilities:
  • Write high-quality code with best practices and design patterns in mind.
  • Work with current technologies including Go, Javascript, NodeJS/Express, React, GraphQL and CSS Modules.
  • Have a voice in the direction of our products.
  • Work at scale to help deliver our journalism to millions of users around the world.
  • Have the opportunity to work with all parts of the stack and contribute to broader architectural discussions.
  • Demonstrates support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
Basic Qualifications:
  • You have at least 6 months of educational or professional experience with full stack engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
  • You have 6 months+ of professional experience working with current web technologies
  • You have familiarity with least one modern server-side programming language (e.g. Go, Java, Kotlin, Python, Scala)
  • You have experience working in a highly collaborative environment with peers from different backgrounds and skill sets
  • You enjoy finding creative solutions to technical challenges and appreciate the balance between strong convictions and a pragmatic approach

The hourly rate of base pay for this role is:

$40-$40 USD

For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock.
