Description

The Sovereign Steel - Flatbed Tractor Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a commercial vehicle with open trailer. Furthermore, they will retrieve and deliver steel products to and from customers as dispatched.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture while upholding the company's core values.
• Properly securing heavy, high-risk loads like steel beams and rebar using chains, binders, coil racks, and straps.
• Ensure safe and efficient delivery of materials to and from destination.
• Performing DOT-required pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment safety.
• Maintain accurate logs (ELDS), shipping papers, and reporting to dispatch.
• Report any truck and/or route issues or incidents to dispatch.
• Communicate with shipping and receiving staff during loading/unloading.
• Ensure that truck cab is kept clean and tidy at the end of each workday.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Valid Class-A CDL with a minimum of one year of professional driving experience.
• Current DOT Physical.
• Clean driving record.
• Prior experience operating a flatbed truck preferred but not required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to work a variable-hour schedule.
• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit for long periods, stand, walk, type, carry, kneel, ascend and descent stairs, and bend.
• Ability to work primarily indoors with occasional work outdoors in multiple types of weather / environmental conditions.
• Ability to complete truck inspections.
• Ability to work primarily indoors with occasional work outdoors in multiple types of weather / environmental conditions.

From $23.00 per hour - $27.00 per hour
