We'd like to ask your assistance with hiring a
Data Engineer . This role will work on the Data Services team as part of the Hawaiian integration project. The team will do the ELT, data engineering needed to either migrate Alaska from Oracle to Databricks Lakehouse immediately, and then to integrate HA data system into our Alaska data systems long term.
This is a hands on developer role and candidates need to be
strong in at least one of these:
Informatica in the cloud,
ODI or
Databricks .

- The first interview will be with the manager and two team members
- Start date is approximately two weeks from offer. We start new contractors on Mondays and provide orientation.
Responsibilities - Strong hands-on experience in the areas of ETL design, data modeling, and ETL development.
- Ability to come up to speed quickly in the required platforms and technologies with minimal supervision/work independently.
- Facilitates best practice guidelines around all stages of development.
- Able to work with analysts, and translate requirements to design and build a solution that will meet Business needs and integrate seamlessly with the EDW.
- Gain team approval for all designs, and effort estimates.
- Research and analyze current systems, subsystems and interfaces to understand the current or new process flow.
- Document work via Functional and Tech Specs.
- Develop unit tests, performance tests, and take into account security requirements.
- Prepare and participate in design and code reviews.
- Analyzes processes for gaps and weaknesses, building future state models and creating roadmaps and migration plans to get there.
- Communicate progress and work using the Agile Methodology
Required Skills - Databricks, IDMC, ODI, strong SQL, data warehousing/ELT experience.
- 5+ years of experience of with Oracle
- 5+ years of experience with Data Warehousing: building relational databases, star schemas
- 5+ years of experience with Data Modeling
- 4+ years of experience with ODI (Oracle Data Integrator Tool) or Informatica IDMC.
- 3+ years of experience with Databricks Lakehouse and/or Delta tables.
- 2+ years of experience in the design, implementation, and support of a Kimball method data warehouse on SQL Server or Oracle
- Strong SQL reading and writing skills
- Business and/or technical background in the areas of Data Integration (ETL), Data Security, and Enterprise Data Warehouse development
- Experience in Change Management, Release Management, and Source Code control practices
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in computer science, systems analysis, or a related area, is preferred.
Candidates need to be familiar with this functionality: and rate themselves at least a 5+ out of 10, in half of the stack. - Oracle or another database platform - Have designed performant database object (tables, MVs, Views) and ETL process. Can write complex SQL independently for analysis, data profiling and validation.
- IDMC - has developed mappings and task flows end to end and used most of the widgets in Informatica.
- ODI - has developed mappings and load plans end to end and used most of the widgets in ODI.
- Databricks - have developed notebooks/pyspark code and preferable used Unity Catalog/delta lake house/medallion architecture
