General Responsibilities Summary


Reviews and investigates NLRPD cold cases, prepares and swears out affidavits of arrest and search warrants/court orders when applicable. Cold Case Investigators are sworn part time officers and have authority to effect arrests.

Essential Functions


The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.

Case Review: Reviews old homicide cases for solvability classification; reviews missing persons cases; reviews evidence in cold cases for possible resubmission to Arkansas State Crime Lab.


Investigation: Actively investigates cold case homicides; interviews witnesses; interviews suspects/arrestees; occasionally travels out of town and state to further an investigation; coordinates with state and federal prisons to arrange interviews of incarcerated persons; meets with victims' family to provide updates of investigations; coordinates through PIO and with media outlets to advance an investigation as needed; places suspects under arrest; prepares court orders, subpoenas, search warrants and affidavits as required.


File Management: Maintains files on all unsolved homicides; utilizes RMS computer system as needed to update cases; utilizes TLO database, ACIC, criminal records, social media, and government records to further investigations; submits completed files to supervisor for review by Prosecuting Attorney.

High School Diploma and one year of experience in a law enforcement environment.

Valid Arkansas driver's license and safe driving record.
