The Assistant Property Manager supports the daily operations of a multifamily residential community, working closely with the Property Manager to ensure high occupancy, resident satisfaction, and effective property performance. This role requires a combination of administrative, customer service, leasing, and maintenance coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities

Leasing & Resident Relations

  • Assist in leasing efforts by showing units, following up with prospects, and processing applications

  • Ensure compliance with Fair Housing laws and leasing policies

  • Handle resident inquiries, service requests, and complaints with professionalism and urgency

  • Conduct move-in and move-out inspections

Administrative & Financial

  • Collect rent and monitor delinquencies; initiate follow-up or legal action as needed

  • Maintain accurate records of tenant files, rent payments, and lease documents

  • Assist with preparing reports related to occupancy, leasing activity, and financial performance

  • Process invoices and help manage property budgets

Operations & Maintenance Coordination

  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure timely completion of work orders

  • Oversee curb appeal and ensure common areas are clean and safe

  • Monitor vendors and contractors performing services on-site

Marketing & Outreach

  • Assist with marketing strategies to maintain high occupancy

  • Organize resident events and community engagement initiatives

  • Maintain online listings and social media presence, if applicable

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)

  • 1–3 years of experience in property management or leasing (multifamily experience highly preferred)

  • Strong understanding of Fair Housing regulations

  • Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, RealPage)

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Must be fluent in Spanish and English
