Football - Varsity Assistant Coach San Dieguito Union High School District – Torrey Pines High School, San Diego, California Starting Date: Jul 31, 2026 Job ID: 5653576 Position Type: Seasonal Salary: $4,044 Stipend (one-time stipend paid at the end of each coaching season) In compliance with SB 848 effective January 1, 2026, applicants for non-teaching positions must disclose a complete list of all schools and educational institutions where they have previously been employed. Failure to provide this information may be considered an act of dishonesty and could affect hiring decisions. Responsibilities Prioritize academics and monitor student-athletes’ academic performance. Develop and communicate team rules and expectations to athletes and parents. Provide and communicate schedules for practices, tournaments, and games. Ensure timely communication of any schedule changes. Be punctual and prepared for all practices and games. Maintain current CPR/First Aid certificates and TB clearance. Encourage all student-athletes to perform to the best of their abilities. Apply all school and team rules consistently. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Create a positive team environment. Communicate individual athletes’ roles on the team. Clearly convey NFHS, CIF, SDUHSD, conference, and team rules to student-athletes and parents. Return parent phone calls and emails in a timely manner. Report injuries to parents promptly in the absence of an athletic trainer. Explain vacation and absence policies. Provide accommodations for athletes to attend makeup tests or tutoring around athletic competition. Require off-campus walk-on coaches to submit keys before payment. Seek permission from the Athletic Director before using district facilities off-season. Maintain CIF HOME and MAX PREP results and statistics. Input schedules into Arbiter when required. Adhere to CIF Dead Period during the summer. Qualifications Knowledge of fundamental and advanced techniques of football. Ability to teach, enforce, advocate, and model appropriate behavior, character traits, and educational values to student-athletes. Familiarity with the National Federation of High Schools Coaches Code of Conduct and the California Interscholastic Federation Coaches Code of Conduct. Experience working with youth preferred. Stipend Schedule Fall Coaching – December Winter Coaching – March Spring Coaching – June Job Requirements High school or trade school degree preferred. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
