Football - Freshmen Assistant Coach (2026-2027) Starting Date: Jul 31, 2026 Responsibilities Prioritize academics and monitor student‑athletes’ academic performance. Develop and communicate team rules, expectations, and schedules. Provide schedules for practices, tournaments, and games; communicate any changes timely. Be punctual, prepared, and maintain current CPR/First Aid certificates and TB clearance. Encourage student‑athletes to perform at their best and apply all school and team rules equally. Maintain a professional, positive team environment and uphold the NFHS, CIF, SDUHSD, conference, and team rules. Communicate with individual student‑athletes about their roles and responsibilities. Return parent calls/emails and promptly inform parents of injuries or health concerns. Explain vacation/absence policies and allow time away from practice to make‑up tests or attend tutoring. Submit keys for off‑campus walk‑on coaches to receive payment. Obtain Athletic Director permission when using district facilities out of season. Maintain CIF HOME and MAX PREP results and statistics; input schedules into Arbiter if required. Adhere to the CIF dead period for the sport during the summer. Qualifications Knowledge of fundamental and advanced football skills and techniques. Ability to teach, enforce, advocate, and model appropriate behavior, character traits, and educational values to student‑athletes. Familiarity with the National Federation of High Schools Coaches Code of Conduct and the California Interscholastic Federation Coaches Code of Conduct. Prior sport experience, preferably working with youth athletes. High School or Trade School degree preferred. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
